Help!

Argh, I need help. Windows 2000 installed fine, but the display is all funky. I'm limited to VGA for some reason. Anyone know why?

Is the correct display driver installed? Were you able to correct the setting by right clicking the desktop and select Properties?

Hm, okay. It was using FAT instead of NTFS as a file system. I have no idea what that means, but since NTFS is recommended, I'm (ugh) repartioning.

Which is fine, I'll try to reinstall again, and if that doesn't work, Manish, I will fix you guys dinner. :)

Yep, tried reinstalling just the display driver and that didn't do it. When I went to check display properties, I only had VGA option.

File system shouldn't affect the display. But just give it a try. It's more secured to use NTFS anyway.

you need to probably download the latest drivers for your card to support the higher resolutions.

what kind of computer model/video card do you have?

How do I determine what video card I have? I got this thing onto the internet...so now it's got all the SP updates, etc...dammit. Now I'll go look for anothe rdriver.

Not working...trying to install and Thinkpad T23 2647 keeps saying my driver file does not contain system information.

Here's what I was downloading.

actually I had the exact same thing happen on my dell when i first tried to change from ME to 2000. I do believe newer drivers were the issue...Manish fixed it! :-)

Tried to download and install that driver, didn't work. So I'm off to Manish's this evening for a work fest. He'll work on my computer, Neha will study (or futz with excel), I'll work on my freelance story.

I have dork friends. :)

Ok - I will hold off on buying a refurbished laptop!

You may also have to do a BIOS upgrade. I assume Manish would know what that is :p
