Where's that place in downtown chinatown that you like? I've never had vietnamese in Oakland, just in San Diego and here...how's it compare? In the oven right now is a rich bacon and cheese quiche... :) 15 minutes till dinnertime! Tomorrow I think I'm trying the Japanese pork cutlet, we'll see if I'm in the mood.
There are several decent Vietnamese places in Chicago. On the Southside, there is just the one pho place that I know about. Its pretty good but the menu is limited. There are many more places on Argyle. One of the places is slightly upscale and good for a group outing.

that does look yummy....are there any good places in Chicago? I've only been to Le Colonial which is of course french/vietnamese....

I had vietnamese in SF several years ago...it was a delish experience, but have never heard of a place here...
